MAC Theatre to Perform ''Next To Normal''
Mineral Area College’s Little Theatre Guild is getting ready to perform “Next to Normal,” a rollicking spring musical.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and performances are at 7 p.m. nightly, April 19-22, in the Fine Arts Theatre at the Park Hills Campus. Tickets are available at the MAC Bookstore or at the door on the night of the performances, and are $7 general admission, or $3 for MAC students and senior citizens.
MAC Theatre Professor Chuck Gallaher said the play is a complex comedy-drama that explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness.
Dad's an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens. Yet their lives are anything but normal because the mother has been battling manic depression for 16 years.
“’Next to Normal’ takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family's story with love, sympathy and heart,” Gallaher said.
The cast list includes:
Diana: Shiloh Burt, Crystal City and Tiffany Everitt, Potosi; Gabe: Dillon Carl, Potosi;
Dr. Madden and Dr. Fine: Caitlyn Emert, Pilot Knob and Christon Hahn, Farmington;
Natalie: Bailey Jackson, Potosi and Sasha Gann, Fredericktown; Henry: Logan Willmore, Farmington; Dan: Sam Gallaher, Farmington.
The Little Theatre Guild’s next performance will be the dramatic “The Laramie Project (to be performed June 22-24, auditions May 7). For more information, call (573) 518-2181, or email [email protected].
