Description
Precision Eye Care’s annual tennis tournament is scheduled for June 11-14 at the Floyd Hager tennis courts in Farmington’s Engler Park. Registration is now open for players in multiple adult and junior divisions: Juniors (Boys/Girls) Singles and Doubles, Adults/Open (Men/Women) Singles and Doubles, Seniors (Men/Women) Doubles and Mixed Open (All Ages) Doubles. Registered players can participate in a maximum of two events, and final brackets are determined by the number of players in each division. Registration fees are donated to the Farmington and North County high schools’ tennis programs. The registration/payment deadline is noon Thursday, June 4.
“Tennis is one of the perfect lifetime sports, and our annual tournament allows players to share the courts in fun and competition,” stated Dr. John Fitz, the tournament executive sponsor. “When the courts are alive with tennis energy, the players and fans get to share that sense of community. Supporting the local high school tennis teams with the entry fees is icing on the cake.”
Registration fees are only $15 and one new can of tennis balls per person per registered event. Registered participants receive a tournament shirt and winners in each event receive awards.
“We love that we have players from so many towns in our region, as well as much farther away and even out of state,” said tournament director Julie Powers. “All skill levels are encouraged, so it’s a fun activity for beginners, high school players, recreational and very experienced players, (both kids and adults). It’s a lot of fun watching all the players compete.”
Thursday and Friday matches are played in the afternoon and evening, while Saturday matches run all day long and late into the evening. Sunday match times are reserved for weather-delayed and/or remaining finals matches.
