Reports To: Building Principal and Custodial Supervisor
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Custodial or maintenance experience preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and vacuums hallways, classrooms, storage areas, restrooms, stairs and office space
- Prepares building for night activities and works cooperatively with those who use school facilities
- Empties trash and garbage containers
- Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, minor maintenance to include plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities. Replaces air conditioner filters.
- Maintains building security
- Maintains confidentiality of information gained through the performance and location of the position
- Notifies Director of Maintenance and Facilities concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment
- Cleans and removes snow and debris from sidewalk
- Mows lawn, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
