Adjunct Plant & Soil Science Instructor
Position Summary
Provide instruction. Teach and assess student learning, contribute to department work, engage in professional development and contribute to shared governance obligations including accreditation. Will provide engaging classroom and laboratory instruction that supports student learning, skill development, and application of agricultural principles. May be assigned to teach online, hybrid, live virtual, or traditional day or evening classes at the main campus or for an Outreach Center.

2. Adhere to department guidelines with use of textbook/materials required
3. Timely, accurate submission of attendance and grade records
4. Timely, accurate submission of assessment findings
5. Engagement in classes on time and for the full allocated time
6. Maintenance of a safe learning environment during classroom and laboratory activities.
Essential Functions
1. Teach assigned courses in Plant Science and Soil Science using established course
outcomes and curriculum.
2. Follow and implement an approved course syllabus for each class taught.
3. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that support student achievement of
course competencies.
4. Present subject matter using a variety of instructional methods such as lectures,
discussions, demonstrations, and laboratory activities.
5. Provide assistance and guidance to students individually or in groups to reinforce
learning concepts.
6. Assess and evaluate student learning through assignments, exams, discussions, and other
course activities.
7. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and course progress.
8. Submit grades and other required documentation in a timely manner.
9. Maintain a classroom and laboratory environment that promotes safety, respect, and
active learning.
10. Communicate effectively with students and the Agriculture program faculty regarding
course expectations and student progress.
11. Follow institutional policies and professional standards in all instructional activities.
12. Perform other instructional duties as assigned to support the success of the Agriculture
program.

Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Soil Science, Agronomy, or a closely related
field required. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Work Experience:
Teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level is preferred but not required.
Proficient use of instructional technology required.
Industry Knowledge:
Practical experience in crop production, agronomy, soil management, or related agricultural
fields is preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position may involve both classroom and laboratory instruction. The instructor must be able to safely demonstrate and supervise agricultural activities, which may include standing, walking, bending, lifting instructional materials, and working in outdoor or laboratory environments.
