Assistant Coach

Position Summary

Support the head coach assisting with sport operations and team duties as assigned.

Key Performance Indicators

  1. Student athlete graduation rates
  2. Fundraising annual amounts
  3. Recruiting athletes
  4. Maintaining expenses within athletic budget
  5. Public relations of team

Essential Functions

  1. Supervise all aspects of the sport as assigned.
  2. Assist with public relations in the community.
  3. Ensure web and printed materials are accurate and available timely.
  4. Train athletes and supervise workouts and practices as assigned.
  5. Assist with organization of game plans and travel plans.
  6. Advise student athletes for academic and athletic success, providing resources for successful program/degree completion.
  7. Assist with recruiting.
  8. Assist with fundraising.
  9. Oversee discipline on the court/field, in the community, and at student housing.

Required Behaviors, Competencies, and Skills

Define behaviors and values:

Ability to communicate well with a variety of people.

Ability to write and edit publications, presentations, news media materials and reports.

Interpersonal skills:

Excellent communication, managerial, and planning skills.

Technical skills:

Ability to use word processing, database and reporting software.

Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field preferred.

Work Experience:

Experience as a player at the college level.

Experience as a coach at the college level, preferred.

Experience with supervision, budget development and revenue accountability preferred.

Industry Knowledge:

Knowledge of Title IX and NJCAA regulations

Familiarity with fitness testing and equipment.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and/or weekend hours to accommodate practice and performance schedules.
