Precision Eye Care’s (PEC) annual community tennis tournament included 79 players with more than half of those playing in two events each during the June 11-14, 2026 event. This year’s event had the highest turn-out for Boys Singles (24 players) and Men’s Singles (22 players) in more than a decade. 

The tournament featured players from 11 years old to 82 years old from Arcadia, Belleview, Bonne Terre, Cadet, Cape Girardeau, Chesterfield, Desloge, Doe Run, Farmington, Festus, Fredericktown, Frohna, Herculaneum, Ironton, Marble Hill, Mineral Point, Poplar Bluff, Sikeston, Ste Genevieve and Waynesville, Missouri; Waterloo, Illinois and Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. John Fitz and Precision Eye Care covered all the expenses for the players’ PEC tournament shirts, medals and ribbons and will be donating all the players’ registration fees to the Farmington (FHS) and North County (NCHS) high schools’ tennis programs to help cover expenses that fall outside the programs’ budgets.

“We really enjoy sponsoring this tournament each year and being able to support our county’s high school tennis programs with the entry fees,” Fitz stated. “There are new players to watch every year, and it’s fun to see the returning players’ progress.”

Tournament director Julie Powers added that “Players and their families and friends who come to watch are very grateful for Precision Eye Care sponsoring this competitive, but very friendly, community tennis tournament. It continues to draw players from far and wide, garnering praise from participants and spectators for the tennis complex in Engler Park, (especially the new shade canopies and new restroom facilities), the event coordination, the high quality shirts and prize medals provided by Precision Eye Care, the supportive tennis community, as well as Farmington’s restaurants and amenities.” 

“Even with the extreme heat on the first day and six hours of rain delay on Saturday, everything turned out very well with real competition and fun,” Fitz stated. 

Next year’s tournament is scheduled for June 10-13, 2027.
