United Way of St. Francois Co selects new Executive Director

United Way of St. Francois County names Curfman executive director

The United Way of St. Francois County has appointed Ken Curfman as its new executive director, effective May 1.

Curfman brings experience in nonprofit fundraising and community engagement, along with a commitment to addressing local issues including human trafficking, homelessness and other challenges affecting residents of St. Francois County. He is active in his local church and has advocated for community collaboration and service.

In his new role, Curfman plans to expand the organization's reach through additional fundraising events, an enhanced payroll deduction program, and a larger holiday bell-ringing campaign. He also intends to meet with local business and civic leaders to strengthen partnerships and encourage greater community participation.

The United Way of St. Francois County raises funds throughout the year and distributes grants to local agencies. Those grants support food banks, nonprofit organizations and educational initiatives, including the Backpack Program, which provides essential supplies to students.

Curfman said a key focus of the organization is ensuring that funds raised locally remain in the community.

“I'm honored to lead an organization that makes such a tangible difference in our community,” Curfman said. “Together, we'll continue to build partnerships that strengthen families and improve lives right here at home.”
