Potosi Outreach Center Coordinator
Position Summary
Working about 15 hours each week, in the evenings Monday through Thursday during fall and spring semesters.
Manage all functions of the outreach center including supervision of employees. Serve as a liaison between the main campus administration, faculty, student services, business office, bookstore, etc. and Outreach Center students and community members.
Key Performance Indicators
- Improve student enrollment and retention
- Host community events and activities
- Manage center budget
- Increase revenue, constantly improve educational offerings based on community needs
Essential Functions
- Recruit students, developing relationships with area high schools and community groups to promote college programs, attending college fairs and community events
- Advise students
- Develop, implement and evaluate effective revenue generating educational and training programs to meet community needs, seeking opportunities to expand offerings
- Prepare course schedules
- Submit proposed faculty credentials to Division Chairs for approval
- Schedule courses and activities in the building
- Manage student registration and assist with billing issues
- Serve as contact person for students, employees, and community members, resolve conflicts, ensure federal, state, local and institutional policies are followed
- Promote college programs and activities, assist with promotional materials
- Track data, analyze trends, make recommendations for improvements
- Communicate building closures and class cancellations with students, faculty and the community
- Administer assessment/placement tests as needed.
- Assess instruction conducting annual faculty evaluations
- Attend campus, community, and state meetings as required
- Manage files and materials as required
- Manage the center budget, submit and process requisitions and purchase orders
- Manage email, telephone, and incoming and outgoing mail correspondence
- Assist with recruiting, training, mentoring and retaining employees, address complaints, resolve problems, recognize exemplary performance
- Monitor student needs, recommend building hours and course schedules that meet community needs
- Coordinate an Advisory Council, prepare agendas, meet regularly to collaborate with committee members, take minutes, work to respond to suggestions
- Collaborate with Financial Aid Director to establish and coordinate scholarships
- Collaborate with bookstore to assist students in obtaining and returning textbooks and materials
- Coordinate with the business office to submit bank deposits
- Schedule and supervise student exit exams
Required Behaviors, Competencies, and Skills

Interpersonal skills:
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a variety of people, including coworkers at all levels, students, parents, staff of external agencies, the business community, and the general public.
Highly effective writing, editing, and proofreading skills to develop marketing/public relations materials, reports, and make presentations.
Technical skills:
Working knowledge of information technology.
Accounting skills to monitor center budget and pay bills.
Experience
Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution
Work Experience:
Three years of full-time directly related work experience involving community education, marketing, public relations, management, and employee supervision. Prior experience in a higher education environment preferred.
Industry Knowledge:
Demonstrated skills developing and evaluating revenue generating programs, including programs for adults, children, and special populations.
Demonstrated skills in marketing and writing.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position includes sitting, standing, keyboarding, filing, speaking, hearing, walking and operating office equipment. Some lifting and moving of items for room set ups is required. This position requires evening supervision of outreach center instruction.
